Children having a snack

A Fun Combination of Healthy Foods and Social Interaction

Nutritious Snacks

The children are provided with a nutritious snack in the morning and afternoon. A healthy lunch is also served. Menus are posted at each location.

Promote Independence

During snack time children in the preschool rooms are allowed to come to the snack table on their own. They are taught to pour their own milk/water, tidy their space, etc. All these skills help promote independence. The snack table is monitored by a teacher and the children are encouraged to come and have snack if they do not come on their own.

Proper Table Manners

Lunch time is a relaxing meal time with social conversation between teachers and peers. The children are taught to use their utensils properly and to develop acceptable behaviour and proper table manners. In the preschool rooms children assist with setting the table and work on serving themselves and pouring their own milk.

Severe Allergy Alert

ANAPHYLAXIS is a SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION which can cause a life-threatening response that involves the whole body. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, hives and swelling, as well as more serious symptoms. People who have been diagnosed with a severe allergy usually have an EPIPEN for use during emergencies, however a severe reaction can occur at any time without prior warning.

Due to the extreme dangers accompanying an Anaphylaxis Reaction we are requesting that:

WE ARE NUT FREE, NO PEANUTS, NO TREE NUTS

NO LATEX PRODUCTS ARE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE SCHOOL

Example: This includes peanut products such as peanut butter, granola bars, cereal, cookies etc. as well as any products containing Latex.
